I agree with you completely, Tarek. I find it unbearable that people still have this idea of ONE idea, ONE leader, ONE... ONE... ONE...

Egyptians do not respect variation or diversity; or, at least, nothing they do makes me feel that way.

If we did, a whole lot of our problems would disappear, IMHO.

Few days before May 27, when there were calls for the second Friday of rage, people who were opposing this demonstration started telling me that the people have different lists of demands, and they want a one list of demands that everybody agrees on for them to participate.

I just remembered that moment when I watched the video, with all the calls for unity, and one-party mentality as zakster22 put it. Why do we have to be all the same aslan!? Even during Jan 25, we didn't have same demands wala 7aga. Guess what, may main reason for participation was police brutality and not to topple Mubarka. Well, toppling Mubarak was like a bi-product for the protest somehow, at least to me. It was like entering a fight, and you have no chance but kill your opponent or else he will kill you. So, once we started to protest, we knew that Mubarak cannot stay any more or else he will put us all into jail if he's given the chance. Some people's main demand was minimum wage for example, while other's didn't have it as their number one priority. So, there was never a single demand list, and it never should be like this. There never should be a mainstream Egypt but a country whose strength comes from its variations

yo girl at 03:55 isn't veiled
I agree however with your objections on a one party mentality. Unfortunately Egypt has never been a cultural mosaic more so a melting pot. Egypt under Mubarak was always portrayed as a homogeneous entity free from differences while that is not the case. And his portrayal has resulted in that people don`t know that there are at least 4 spoken languages ( indigenous to Egypt )other than Arabic in this country.

As long as it is equal opportunity "freedoms", then all is good. As for the moderation thing: don't worry about it. My blog automatically stops anything posted by someone for the first time.

Sorry about the moderation - and thanks for the comment. My reply:

"My buddy Griffin started doing stand-up a while back, and one of his bits is a dark and offensive rant on Jesus - I won't spoil it, and I'm afraid he has yet to put up a video, but it's about as offensive as you can get. Moses I can't speak to, but if you do a google image search I'll bet you'll find something out there - Rule 34 being what it is.

Granted there's a subset of folks involved in the "Draw Mohammad Day" who would fill their drawers if you insulted their own lord and saviour, but the vocal organizers of the movment - and South Park, who are at the epicentre of all of this - are equal opportunity teasers.

Any group that says that their right to not be offended overcomes your right to free speech has it coming, as far as I'm concerned. And that includes all the groups I'm a part of."

Whether it's holocaust deniers or white supremacists, I'll defend their Right to Free Speech - and as for Israel, well, I've been waiting for an opportunity to use this image: http://s843.photobucket.com/albums/zz357/Aurini/?action=view&current=Israelsracistflag.jpg
